Portfolio Federico Garcia Lorca - Graphic by Rancillac
Bernard Rancillac
was born in Paris in 1931, where he lives and works down to the present day. A representative of the Nouveau Réalisme movement, he uses his art to take an ironic look at the celebrity cult of the modern society. In 1961 he was awarded with the prize for painting at the Biennale in Paris.
Since 1963, he has been participating in numerous exhibitions all over the world and became widely famous in 1971, presenting an individual exhibition named "The Wind" at the Centre National d'Art Contemporain in Paris and the Kunsthalle Hamburg. Celebrated as a major exponent of the Pop-Art movement, Rancillac's art has been a part of most of the recent exhibitions treating the topic "Pop", such as "Pop 60" held at the Centre Culturel de Bellem (Portugal) in 1997, "I love pop" in the Chiostro del Bramante (Rome) and "Pop Impressions" held at the MoMA (New York) in 1999 as well as "Les années pop" held at the Centre Georges Pompidou (Paris) in 2001.
