Philippe Cognée
Born in Nantes in 1957, Philippe Cognée artistically focuses on the universe of everyday life. He translates landscapes as well as supermarkets into a new vision trying to get to the bottom of the daily life. Cognée's works were bought by numerous private and public collections throughout the USA, Europe and Asia, including the Centre Georges Pompidou and the Musée d'Art National in Paris, the Guggenheim Collection in Bilbao and the HSBC Bank in Hong Kong. In 1990 he was awarded with the Prix de Rome (section gravure) of the Villa Medici. The internationally renowned artist became widely famous through those of his works that are dealing with city architecture and his personal view upon modern city life. Cognée lives and works in Nantes.
