Joaquim Capa
(*1941) studied at the School of Fine Arts in Madrid between 1965 and 1970. He repeatedly taught at the University of Barody (India) as a visiting professor and won the first prize at the International Biennial Exhibition Bhopal (India) in 1989. Capa's works reveal a thoughtful sensibility of a world full of hope, which is fraught with sadness nonetheless. Colour, form and rhythm are masterfully handled by the artist to provide a sense of richness. The intensity of his personality is apparent in his work, and yet it is not displayed by a casual use of technical bravura. Capas work is always subtle, ever bowing to the imperfection of human understanding. His works can be found in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Louvre and the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, in the County Museum of Art in Los Angeles, the Museum of Contemporary Spanish Art in Madrid and the Kunsthaus Zurich.
